Welcome!
Dear Friends,
Thank for checking us out on our website. We're excited that you have found us on the web and trust that your experience here will help you in finding out more about The Church at Acworth and fulfilling the destiny for your life! Together, we can dispel the "Lone Ranger" model of living life and pursue God's perfect desire and design for our life together in the local church.
Wherever you are in your personal journey, I believe you are here by "divine appointment"! Pray that God will reveal Himself to you as well as the wonderful plan He has for your life. And consider allowing us to support you along the way.
Let us serve you in you "next step". First, we hope that you will be able to visit us THIS Sunday at our regular Sunday Worship Celebration at 10:30 a.m.. We trust you will enjoy your time with us and, if you sense God prompting you, explore the ways you can experience more in your relationship with Him and a local church family. Secondly, we hope that you will pursue your desire to know more about what God is doing at The Church through participating in our home groups.
Again, thank you for visiting our website. This website is for YOU. Do let us know how we can encourage and assist you.
Hope to meet you in person,
Jason Tomczak
Our Core Values
Our Motto
Becoming a People of His Presence to Impact our World.
Our Mission
Establish an authentic New Testament local church that glorifies God by loving Him passionately and proclaiming the good news about Jesus Christ to everyone so the Kingdom of God is extended - first in our city and then to the ends of the earth.
Our Mandate
"Keep in step with the Spirit" (Gal. 5:25).
Our Manner of Life
The early church devoted themselves to regularly gathering together corporately and in homes as a lifestyle, not merely a meeting (Acts 2:26).
Our Major Objectives
Magnifying the Lord; Ministry to One Another; Maturity of Christians; Mission to the World.
Our History
In the beginning, a small group of people gathered together in 1997 to share their hopes of experiencing "authentic" New Testament Christianity. The vision, was to practice a Christianity that was a lifestyle to be lived, not merely a meeting to attend. CTK began in the basement of Founder and former Senior Pastor Larry & Doris Tomczak's home in Acworth, GA. As the church began to grow, they eventually moved to a former karate studio which they renovated and continue to meet in today. Christ the King Church continues to grow and is pursuing the church's motto: Becoming a People of His Presence to Impact Our World. In June of 2007, Larry and Doris transitioned to Nashville, TN to start a school for the training of church planters. With their moving, Jason and Michele assumed the role of Lead Pastor.
Christ the King Church is dedicated to being "a people of His Presence". We want to be a people that are living in and experiencing the manifest presence of God in every part of our life together. We are also a people who believe that real New Testament Christianity is about more than just coming to a meeting...it's about sharing a life together in Christ! Authentic Christianity is not attending a meeting, but living a way of life. The believers in Acts "continually devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship (community), to the breaking of bread and prayer." They gathered corporately in the temple and shared their lifestyle in homes (See Acts 2:42-47).
Pressures mounting in our increasingly paganistic society are alerting us to the fact that we can no longer "go it alone". We need a shared life...a community...a spiritual family, not in theory but in reality! We need to be joined to brothers and sisters who have an all-consuming commitment to follow Jesus and be a living example of His Body on a daily basis. The Bible speaks of us as "trees planted by rivers of living waters" (Psalms 1:3) and as being "planted in the house of the Lord" (Psalms 92:13). We need to be planted in a local church and allow God to mature us and use us in that place, rather than be uncommitted or constantly moving around from place to place. The Bible knows nothing of nomadic, unconnected, "tumbleweed" Christians who blow in and out without warning or accountability. In the New Testament, all those who were members of the universal church were also members of a local church. This speaks of commitment in the place where God has set you.
God's intention is that you find your place in a New Testament Church. Remember, this is not optional, but essential! We hope we can serve you in your journey.
